4/15 DEADLINE THIS WEEK: What Is Due & What To Do?

  • April 15 is 3 days away— and so are your first quarter estimated payments
  • Even if you filed for an extension, you may still have payments due on 4/15!
  • Individual tax returns not on extension are due on May 17, 2021

The IRS’s extended filing deadline has caused a major misunderstanding amongst taxpayers who pay quarterly estimates. While Federal individual taxes (and many state taxes, including New York) have been pushed back to May 17, estimated payments have not.

If you pay your taxes through quarterly estimates, this reminder is for you:

Even if you have filed for an extension on your Federal and New York individual income taxes: your first quarter estimated payments are still due this Thursday.

Taxpayers who do not pay their quarterly estimates on time are subject to penalty fees.

Don’t delay! If you think you might have quarterly estimates in 2021, call your trusted DSJ accountant today at 516-541-6549 to discuss the best course of action for your filing and payment plans. Visit our website for more information and to stay updated.
