Meet the DSJ Tax Team!

So, who’s working on my tax return this year? Read on and get to know the members of the DSJ tax team! Remember to check out our website for more information on all services we provide.

This year is CPA Gigi Boudreaux’s third tax season with DSJ out of many overall. Gigi has been in the industry for over thirty years, starting off at KPMG before moving back to the island to continue her career with smaller, privately-owned companies like DSJ. “I appreciate so many things about DSJ, but especially the community that has developed amongst everyone in our office. We’ve really worked hard to create a team-like, collaborate atmosphere and I think it’s paying off.” Gigi is the captain of our tax crew; she’s been leading our team through this unique tax season while managing other *partner-related* duties. Just like her roles in the office, Gigi is a jack of all trades when it comes to her personal hobbies. She enjoys DIY and creative projects, country music concerts, and travelling abroad. But her favorite pastime would have to be relaxing at the beach with a good historical fiction novel in hand—after tax season, of course!

James Dunne, CPA, has worked hard to create a well-established private accounting practice in his name. He’s owned the firm since 1983 and became the sole practitioner in 1996; in that time, he has gained a clientele of high net-worth individuals coming primarily from the financial services industries. Jim is excited about the merger with DSJ and becoming part of a larger accounting firm: “It became clear that a merger with another, larger firm would be the best way to provide my clients with a wider array of services in this ever-increasing, complex, and demanding environment.” Likewise, DSJ is looking forward to growing our practice and welcoming the accomplished CPA to our team. Jim is an avid golfer; he played for 20 years for the Metropolitan New York Lesley Cup team. He remains involved in the golfing community here on Long Island, acting as Treasurer for a few local golf associations.

Senior Accountant, Ada Onwugbenu, CPA, is passionate and curious about the world of public accounting. Born and raised in Nigeria, Ada moved to New York to attend college at St. John’s University from which she graduated in 2005. Entering college, she wasn’t quite sure what she wanted to do, but after achieving high marks in all her accounting courses, she decided to pursue a degree in Accounting, eventually receiving her CPA not long after graduation. Previously, Ada had been working with Tax Partner, Jim Dunne, and has been with DSJ since we merged practices in late February of this year. With hopes to continue perfecting her skills, Ada feels grateful to be a part of a team that supports her, teaches her, helps her—and makes her laugh during daily zoom calls! In her spare time, Ada enjoys doing yoga and being active; recently, she’s been getting more into weight-lifting and other alternate methods of staying fit. In the future, she hopes to travel more and check off her bucket list.

Allen Rosen is a Tax Supervisor at DSJ with over thirty years of accounting experience under his belt. He has enjoyed developing in his new position: “DSJ is a great place to work. The staff and partners are all friendly… [I’m] a part of a great team.” Allen assists our partners in reviewing returns and supervising the junior staff members. He hopes to continue his professional growth here and learn new tricks of the trade along the way. Outside the office, Allen is an advocate for people with special needs; he supports Best Buddies International and serves on the Board of Directors of ACT for Life Services.

George Rottkamp is a Senior Accountant here at DSJ. George joined our company when we merged practices with Howard Oconefsky in 2018. Since then, he has been a major asset to our tax team. George prepares high level, complex returns for reviewers. A hard-working individual, it’s not unlikely to see George at work early in the morning and later in the evening to ensure that each return has been attended to and that no client goes unheard. Specifically, throughout the challenges of the current pandemic, George has played a key role in keeping constant communication between our at-home and in-office staff; he has helped tremendously in making this transition seamless for both our employees and clients. George is a fan of the New York Jets and Mets. He spends his free time at home relaxing before coming back to our office with his positive and helpful work ethic.

Bill Sampson is a Bookkeeper here at DSJ who is relatively new to the world of accounting, but eager to dive in and learn more. Graduating from Farmingdale State College in 2016 and starting here in January 2020, he has taken on multiple responsibilities here like tax prep, financial writeups, and payroll. He believes firmly in hard work and consistency, two skills he learned from his biggest role models: his father and his uncle. With goals to earn a CPA and a Masters in Accounting in the future, Bill looks forward to growing in his new position and hopes to eventually become a tax supervisor. Here at DSJ, we’re big New York sports fans and Bill is no exception—he’s a loyal Giants and Mets fan who enjoys working out and staying active in his spare time.

Sanaa Zaidi joined our tax team in January 2020 as a Senior Accountant. Her interest in accounting started in high school when she first interned with a CPA firm—she’s been hooked since. The Queens College alum relishes the challenges of her job and constantly seeks client satisfaction in all she does. Primarily preparing business and personal returns, no day is ever the same; Sanaa juggles preparations for tax projections, 1040s, 1065s, and 1120s all with a positive attitude and friendly smile. She cites her parents and grandparents as her biggest inspirations, teaching her the importance of ownership and hard work with any task. When she’s not hard at work, Sanaa enjoys cooking, baking, and trying new foods.

Sincerely,

Devin McQuillan
